Meditation is basically about silence.

It's like going to the gym for your brain.

You cannot block or dissolve a negative or uncomfortable thought.  However, after a deep, full breath you can decide what to do next with that thought.  Will you take action, will you feel your feelings, or will you allow the negative thought to proliferate and expand?

“You must practice and train to live every moment relaxed and peaceful. Eventually you will be able to respond with compassion.

The greatest gift you can give yourself is to find the peace within yourself.

You must practice, practice, practice your meditation each morning.  If you do not, you will dry up.

Go back to your breath, breathe deeply and slowly; realize here you can handle any type, every type of situation, but... first take a full breath.”
— Thich Nhat Hanh

After much practice you will learn to breathe deeply into that thought and allow it to dissolve.

Eventually you will be able to cultivate:  self love, loving kindness, mindfulness, gratitude, joy, emotional balance, and compassion for all things.
